Wrinkle Relaxing Injections
“Botox” is a purified protein that has a variety of medical and cosmetic uses. It is commonly used to smooth out wrinkles in the forehead, frown area andcrows feet. These are natural signs of ageing that develop over time and can be affected by our natural expressions, skin condition and lifestyle.
Botox is a series of small injections in 1 or all of these 3 areas, which will give a fresher, smoother look. One size doesn’t fit all so the treatment is tailored to your areas of concern; desired look and of course, budget.
It starts to work within a few days and will be fully effective at 2 weeks after the injections. On average, it will last around 3 months.
Immediately after the treatment there may be some light bruising, redness or swelling. These are temporary and will settle within 1-2 days.
More complicated side effects can include muscle droops and asymmetry. By a careful injection technique and a review 2 weeks after the procedure this means these effects are rarely a problem.
Prior to treatment, we will have a consultation and full review of your medical history to ensure your questions are answered and to ensure your individual suitability from the treatment. We also take before and after photos.
Like most prescribed medications, there are different brands available but I use the original Botox product- for more information check out the product website
Dermal Fillers work differently. They contain hyaluronic acid, which is something that our body produces naturally in great quantities when we are young and boosts and retains moisture in our skin. As we age the amount of this we naturally produce decreased and along with gravity, lifestyle and life the lines can set in!
Fillers work to lift and smooth out lines that are present all the time, despite your expression, most commonly in the lower face. The lines between the nose and edge of your lips are one of the most common areas people notice as they age.
The fillers contain local anaesthetic so the area numbs quickly when you are having the treatment. Results are visible pretty instantly and can last for around 9 months. The filler naturally dissolves and your body clears the product from your system without any side effect.
Common side effects at the time of treatment are bruising and redness. In a matter of days this will settle. Swelling may also occur temporarily.
Current filler treatments are not permanent so the look you have with them will change over time.
I use Juvederm as I find this to be a very smooth product, well tolerated by clients and gives great results.
In an initial consultation we can review your areas of concern and look and what might help.
