?xml:namespace> I admit it, I am completely out of the running bug and desperate to be back in it. My excuse is it’s been cold and I hate running in the cold but I am determined to run again... with you!! All this lack of running made me think (whilst sitting on my lovely comfy couch.)… Have you ever thought to yourself – I want to run? I want to run fast and not get out of puff and just run? It is so funny to think that something like running, you actually have to train yourself in and actually have to work at it to be able to do it!! When you are children you take it for granted that you can run and run and run….. You have so much energy, that running was never an issue. So many women I speak to say they would like to run but don’t think they can, and that is rubbish!! Anyone can run, it’s just an upgrade from power walking. But I do understand the feeling of the unknown or unsure because as you get older, the thought of running can be nerve racking for people as they feel self-conscious, it can be exhausting just thinking about getting off the couch and going outside!! Also as us women get older our boobs seem to get in the way whilst we run, a constant complaint of the jiggle we don’t want to wiggle. Another common complaint is the out of breath feeling in the chest as people start to run again. These are normal although they might not feel it, but it is your body’s reaction to trying something new. So what I thought what I would do is take you through from STEP 1 – pre run right through TO BEING ABLE TO DO A 5KM. YOU WITH ME?? So lets take it slow and have our first day as a rest day – ha ha and make sure we have the following before we run. I will post the first step of going outside on Thursday 23rd February and doing the first week’s session. So what do we need to make sure we have in place for our first run?? · Supported High Impact Sports Bra · Water – small bottle · PMA – Positive Mental Attitude · I POD/ MP3 Player – something to keep your mind occupied · Running trainers that offer support, go to your local running/ sports shop and ask advice on trainers best suited to a new runner. · Comfortable clothing that YOU FEEL comfortable in while running. It doesn’t need to be designer, it can be baggy and dis coloured… who cares!! Just get it on if it feels good to wear. I always run best in my joggers with paint on them and my boyfriend’s hoodie!! · An idea of the route you would like to take. ?xml:namespace> Get this altogether and be ready for Thursday 5km running blog for the next step… Any questions email me at info@fitnesschicks.co.uk Sarah xx Posted on Thursday Feb 16 22:04:00 UTC 2012 Have you ever looked at another woman and thought “I want her figure?” or “she doesn’t eat to stay that size.” Have you ever compared yourself to another woman or asked your partner if your butt is the same size or bigger than another woman’s???? Don’t worry we have all done it!! And we will all do it and will keep doing it as it is part of female human nature. But I would love to know why we do it to ourselves…. Why do we torture our minds with such thoughts?? ?xml:namespace> Is it because we want what we can’t have or we think that everyone else is having a fab life and looking great and we are not…but are they really??? Sometimes I look at Facebook or twitter and think “how amazing bla bla’s life looks.” Or “She looks happy ALL the time.” BUT then I give myself a BIG shake and say it’s not real. And the reason I know it is not real is because NO ONE puts a bad pic on social sites…. There is no way I am going to let anyone see me at my worst so why would they. In reality even though these social sites are amazing they are NOT REAL…… They only show the good bits and the bits we want people to see. ?xml:namespace> So how do we stop this or is this comparison mode always going to be with us?? Am I forever going to be comparing my ass to the lady next to me…. ?xml:namespace> I SAY NO!!! ?xml:namespace> It is a no win situation. I think we should all write down the positives we find in ourselves and if I hear you say I don’t have any …. You are talking rubbish. Are you funny? Have you got pretty eyes? Do you like your legs? Are you good at keeping in touch with people? Are you a good listener/ communicator? Keep this in your purse or in your bag and if you find yourself comparing your legs to another woman or your life to bla blas Facebook page….. Get the piece of paper out your bag and read it and REMIND YOURSELF WHY YOU ARE WONDERFUL!! All very cheesy I know but us ladies need to stick together and start realising we are special in our individual ways…. ?xml:namespace> Appreciate, support and LOVE one another for what we are. Have a lovely day and thank you for reading my blog xxx ?xml:namespace>
